Mansfield is a diverse country town just 2 ¼ hours north of Melbourne and situated in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. From its prominent beginnings as a gold mining service centre during the 1850’s gold rush, Mansfield has become one of Victoria’s fastest growing regions. With its unique position and close proximity to Melbourne and the high country, it has become one of the region’s most sought-after places to live permanently or as a part-time holiday home.
Mansfield is a vibrant tourist destination and friendly country town, providing so many options and lifestyles to its residents. As well as the picturesque setting of the high country and its sweeping vistas from all directions, many people are attracted to the area for its vibrant mix of food and wine.

Mansfield is truly unique in offering country living so close to so many great attractions. It is the gateway town to the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling snowfields, which are just 45 minutes away and makes the perfect escape for a day trip or an extended snowy break.
The close by Lake Eildon, Australia’s second largest lake and 6 times the size of Sydney’s harbour, is the ultimate water sports location for boating, camping and fishing. The bushland around Mansfield is used for horse riding, trail biking and four-wheel driving on all of the extensive tracks throughout the region.

There are several unique country townships on the outskirts of Mansfield to explore, including Howes Creek and Goughs Bay. Don’t forget the lake front communities of Bonnie Doon, Howqua and Macs Cove, or the small picturesque town of Jamieson.
Just outside the main street is the Mansfield Golf Club, a scenic tree lined 18-hole golf course with views of the high country and Victorian alps – also home to the Adams Ski & Golf Fundraising Day.
